The good old days for me was when I was younger. I don't know if it was because I was young and oblivious to the things going on outside of my home but it just seemed that when I was growing up there was less violence, crime, negative public influences, and ignorance in the world. Times have truly changed since I have grown up and things don't seem like they are going to get better. Now we are all surrounded by war, plunging environmental status, terrorists, crime, insufficient public role models for our children, harsh public school programs, declining health care for the poor and old, and inappropriate behavior everywhere you look. It's sad.

Our society changed!!! When I was a kid, we could leave our front doors unlocked and If there ever was a burgalary, it was front-page news.
At night, there were thousands of bright stars in the sky, and they looked so close!!! My family would go out in the front yard with a blanket over the grass and sit and talk and look at the stars. If someone tried to do that now, there would be a drive-by shooting.
There wasn't so much crime and gangs.
School shootings were unheard of. Groceries were not as expensive and neither was gasoline.
That was what was so good about the good old days.

"the good old days" are a myth.
every generation talks of them.
My great gran lived in the whitechapel area during the "christie years", which of course followed the ripper years.
My childhood concurred with the hindley and bradey years.
Now we have the Ian Huntley times.
We have NEVER been able to leave our doors unlocked and come home to everything every time. Even my nan was robbed when she went to the pics and left the doors unlocked.
So what do you think the good old days were like?

the problem is all the lawsuits back in the day you could by muscle cars and not worry about gas prices or cost of insurance. you could get firecrackers and just have all sorts of things but now with lawsuits no one can do that anymore. and that is because everyone is out to make a quick buck no matter who it hurts and it indeed has hurt todays kids look at the always inside. well that my opinion anyway>

The good old days really sucked, but after the fact people romanticize the most mundane things. That's why so many adults say high school was the greatest time of their lives, but high school students know that is sucks.

What was good about them is that we now know they the answers so looking back everything falls into place although it didn't before. Later on we would look back on today and think today was a good day. It's all a delayed reaction :)

George Bush was not dictator of the United States of America back then, that's why they're known as the "good" ole days.

Could be that the people who lived in the "good old days" are getting pretty old and are therefore senile and slightly delusional.
