I have an 03 Suburban with less than 60k miles and suddenly the ABS light came on while driving. After getting home I turned of the engine and this hummin noise from the middle of the front axle kept going for roughly around 15-20 minutes. I read the manual and said to bring it in for service. Just wondering if anyone knows what the problem and is and how much it would cost? I would like to have some sort of idea before I bring it in for repair. Thanks.

Things like this are pretty hard to diagnose over this type of medium, but you can help yourself by trying a couple of things before taking it in. What I think you are hearing is the ABS pressure pump operating after the motor is shut off. That should not be happening obviously. To be sure this is what is making that noise, remove the under hood fuse box cover and locate the maxifuses. Under the cover of the fuse box is a map which tells you which fuse is which. I think these used to be a 60A maxifuse or the big fuses. Locate the one that states it is the ABS fuse or maybe the brake fuse. Then when the noise is ongoing, pull this fuse and see if the noise quits. If it does you more than likely have a module blown that controls the pump motor. This will then have to be replaced. Make sure the noise is there and you are ready to pull the fuse when it is happening. This is a very expensive part, so be sure. Most of these things were covered by at least a three year, 60000 km warranty. There might be more warranty available if you take it in to a dealer. Good luck.

Hello,

Seems the abs speed sensor requires verification.
Unfortunately i can not say a price for repairs.
Better ask you work shop quote before they start replacing parts.

Good luck
