What if a Democratic President had appointed Alberto Gonzales as Attorney General and the Republicans had been screaming for his removal for X, Y, and Z reasons?

Do you think the media would've portrayed it as the Republicans holding a grudge against minorities in power?

Absolutely. The mainstream liberal media outright ignored blatant abuses by the Clinton Administration, tried to sweep the ones they couldn't contain under the rug, and basically accused Kenneth Starr of being on a witch-hunt. It's absolutely mind-boggling to see the hordes of brainwashed liberals here on Y!A who demonize conservatives yet fail to see the obvious hypocrisy in their own party. I guess the Democrat sheep-dipping process is paying dividends -- if they can get so many people, particularly so many young people, to blindly accept whatever they say without question then we're well on our way to becoming the next Soviet Union.

Sen. John Sununu of recent Hampshire could desire to be fired. Why brush aside Gonzales? What did he do? Why are the Libs so rapid to forget approximately that Janet Reno fired all yet a million U.S. lawyer in 1993 for political motives

No. You are placing far too much bias on the media. Besides, there would be little gain by spinning things that way. Of course, Rush Limabugh and Sean Hannity would disagree with me, but neither is a politician, and neither claims to be a journalist.

He would have been crucified.

I sincerely doubt race would be an issue.

Remember, under Clinton the Black housing and Urban Development cabinet nominee didn't make it because of some of her views. She was crucified.

There are no rules here. Gonzales was a phukking disaster on our bill of rights.

Peace

Kenneth Starr would be conducting a major investigation and publishing a book, if he were a Democrat.

Apparently Congress has nothing better to do with its time than to 'get even' with their political opponents - and many people on this forum have nothing better to do than to escalate the hatred, bias and bigotry between liberals and conservatives.

Webster's dictionary defines "conservatism" as a "political philosophy based on tradition and social stability, stressing established institutions, and preferring gradual development to abrupt change."

Webster's dictionary defines "liberalism" as a "political philosophy based on belief in progress, the essential goodness of man, and the autonomy of the individual and standing for the protection of political and civil liberties."

What liberal doesn't want social stability? What conservative doesn't believe in the essential goodness of man?

It sounds to me like there's a little bit of conservatism and liberalism in ALL of us, since I highly doubt very many of us reject any of those defined philosophies.

It's time to stop all the childish barbs, juvenile insults, and immature name-calling just because we have nothing constructive to say, or aren't able to back up our comments with productive, factual information. This conservative vs. liberal mentality is what continues to divide our country when it so desperately is in need of unity. -RKO- 08/28/07

The answer is an unqualified yes.

In case you hadn't noticed, decent Republicans have been calling for Gonzales to resign for months, not just Democrats. Any American with any love of our country is sick and tired of the "neoconservatives" and their prvasive corruption and dishonesty.
