Linear dimension describes length, height and width. There is radial dimension, which describes arc lengths and curved lengths. So .. linear dimension measures straight lines, as opposed to radial dimensions with measure curved lines. (I'm not sure if they are called radial dimensions, but you get the picture)

linear dimension is lenght, height and webdth the 3 dimension we all know and are straight, and time is the fourth curved dimension.
