Historians have noted, in part, that the declaration of independence was inteded to convince the colonists to support the fight for inependence. Do you gusy agree or disagree with this? why?



P.S. This isnt for homework....I havent strated school yet..I just would like to know what you all think.

I would agree with that. Go back and read it, and you'll see that the Declaration of Independence has a long list of grievances against the British Crown. I believe that colonists reading it would see that King George III was being a very oppressive tyrant, so they would be motivated by it once they saw the abuses they were suffering at the hands of England. I think they would also be swayed by prominent statesmen who signed the declaration and were willing to sacrifice all they had for the cause of freedom.

Sure that is totally plausible and probable. I have never seen or read any proof on such a statement but it makes total sense.

When they wrote it declaring Independence from Great Britain it had to be used as propaganda by the Continental Congress to help support and booster their chance of gaining troops and support for their cause.

I agree with it but have no proof to support it though, it is just an opinion.

Any great work, be it art, literature, speeches or charity is created by impassioned people. The act of tyranny, slavery, religious beliefs and freedom are definitely things that make people passionate. To get a nation of people to believe in a common purpose, words that will stir the heart and mind is the only course of action. I believe that is still true today.
