Why do 99% of the men in Liverpool still shave their heads while the rest of the male world now wears it long?

It is so 1990s still here in provincial Liverpool. The people can be so out of step with the latest fashions in London, Paris and New York. For instance, it seems every adult male in Liverpool is a carbon copy of the other with this obsession for crew-cuts and shaving their heads bald. They all look like they're still stuck in 1992! I ask my guy friends here, why don't you grow your hair long like most men are doing elsewhere in the civilised world, and they look at me as though I have three heads. There seems to be no respect for individuality; everyone wants to be a conforming clone of the other.

It is also true of the majority of men in Newcastle and Gateshead.
Is it because they can not be bothered to wash and style?
I haven't asked any of them, they look too scary.

I don't have a crew cut, but I cant stand my hair over my ears, so I tend to get it cut fairly short. If I could get someone to do the old 'flatop' I would prefer that, but most barbers find it to difficult to do.

Anyhow I thought all men who get this cut are bald, its looks a lot better than the Bobby Charlton comb over. My brother in law in Derbyshire is into all the latest fashions, but is baldy so gets his hair cut this way.

Oh and being 'out of step with the latest fashions' must be one of the nicest complements you have ever paid anyone. I am not a clone and I refuse to be told what way to wear my hair by poncy fashion magazines in London, Paris, New York, or anywhere else come to that matter.

I don't tend to care much about whats trendy. I'm not from liverpool and I'm not a chav, but when I cut my hair its a crew cut. Its easy, cheap, neat and tidy and depending on the clothes, can look really classy.

I hate the idea of conforming, when I'm lounging around the house, or going out its usually a shirt and jeans. Sometimes I wear a baseball cap.

I never wear any jewellery and I don't drive a sporty car, so I'm not a chav.

I dont expect to get best answer for this but I will give it a try - Liverpool is a very big football city and maybe there is more of a preference for a ' sporty ' shaved head - clean cut. I am an athlete myself playing defence - and I shave my head. How many times have they won the champions league - we are reminded. Cheers Rita

Maybe they are doing what they want, so the rest of the world have grown long hair, so who are the carbon copies ! And just for the record there is all sorts of hair cuts in Liverpool, you must be looking in the wrong places

mmmm you claim they have no respect for individuality and yet you want them to "grow your hair long like most men are doing elsewhere" surely doing what others elsewhere are doing doesnt make you an individual. I've seen many men in Liverpool with long hair just as ive seen short hair on many men in other places. I guess it must be the places you are hanging out.

I don't have any male friends with long flowing locks, and I live in London. I think long hair looks scruffy on a man, and a bit girly.

I prefer blokes with shorter hair cuts...
I would rather they follow a trend where they look clean, than a trend where they look like hobo's.

BTW - its not like women are the centerfold's for individuality. In fact, I would say women are worse than men at "sheeping"
