In the music industry if you count concerts, tv apperances and sales of CD's it can vary. Remember that celeberties do free apperances on most talk shows and give away free copies of music to radio stations.
The average popular singer or band will make as much as 10 million a venture.
The really popular singers and bands like The Rolling Stones-88million or U2-108 million. This is after many years though.

Football players can get as much as 110 million for a season.
Basketball players can get as much as 44 million
Baseball player can get as much as 2.6 million a game!
Not including all of the commercials they make and apperances they will do. I think, per capita, that there is more money in sports than music because regardless of what you play in sports you still get your 6 million or so. In music you have to be a very good musician or very popular over many years to get the income they have. Remember that musicians get a pitance compared to the record companies they are under.
Hope that helped :-)

Music. Sports is big and there no one event as big as the super bowl (in the US at least) But music is much more diverse. And music can always be found in one form or another at a sports event but hardly any sports at a music event, unless you count crowd surfing or moshing as sports. I guess that doesn't really mean anything, but to show how music is intertwined into our humanity more so than sports.

sports no doubt, commercials during the super bowl can be worth up to 5 million bucks just to air for a couple of minutes plus they have tons of sponsors like coke, miller and reebok paying huge amounts of money. The FIFA world cup can make close to a billion dollars in revenue world wide. In an international level, sports out numbers music revenues by a shiitload.

I think that Sports are hands down. If you count 7 major sports then throw in the Olympics, locally televised college games and the Special Events. Hey.......
