What is the correct pucntuation for the sentence:

I often wonder how did I get to be so lucky?

Is it:
I often wonder, " How did I get to be so lucky?"
I often wonder; how did I get to be so lucky?

or something else?

The 2nd version is totally incorrect.

The 1st version is technically grammatically correct. There are certainly other ways to include a "thought-quote" but this one is definitely okay to use.

the first sentence i think is correct
semi-colons are used to link to related sentences together and in your second it makes it look like two different thoughts

try a colon in between wonder and how- that's the best way:

'I often wonder: how did i get to be so lucky?'

The first one is correct, if you're quoting the thought exactly.

Otherwise, you'd have to rewrite the sentence to something like this:

I often wonder how I got to be so lucky.
I often wonder why I'm so lucky.

Both are correct.

I don't know which one is used more often, but I prefer using the 2nd one.

the second one is correct. The first one would be correct if you added, I often wonder aloud.

Both sentences are grammatically correct. The second is punctuated properly.
