In a way I find there is.
When I have had enough of thinking up answers on here, I go out in the street ; the noise, the distractions will silence my thoughts.

Yes! Consider this statement:

"Noise is deafening just as silence is deafening. Therefore those deafening moments will bring you to silence afterthought".

Here's an exercise, try it and see it for yourself:

Close your eyes and picture a ball of pure white light as silence, then picture different colors within it as you hear a different sound for each color you see.
