Im buying a wireless router for virgin cable broadband.
Some wirelss routers says they are ASDL, others says they work for both ASDL and cable. Does it matter which one i get to plug into my modem?

Ask Virgin cable for their recommendation. As every router is a little different, the company will usually train their people on two or three models. Those will be the ones that they will be best able to support you on if you have problems.

There is a difference between an ASDL and a cable modem. They are designed to work with different signal (phone instead of "cable" for ASDL). If you are going to be using cable, then you need to be sure that the router supports cable. Some modems are designed to work with either, others are not.

are you cable or broadband? if broadband call your provider and ask if they have a wireless modem. it would be alot cheaper just to exchange your current modem for a wireless one.
if your cable just get a linksys g.

i have never heard of a router being only used for a certain isp, because adsl, dsl, providers have a router inside there modems. i believe you might have ventured into the modem section while browsing routers.

depending your ISP, normally connection is ADSL (asymmetrical digital subscriber line), so better buy that works both. take note the the router is already with DSL modem.

you will connect with network cable to your pc or laptop's network card on board. or you can connect it wirelessly..
