Hey all,

I know I will need a converter for the outlet, but will my laptops power supply run on 220v or whatever current they have there? Someone told me that newer laptops (mine is brand new) can handle both 110v American and 220-240v European. So beyond the plug adapter, will I need a current/voltage converter? Thanks.

Just look on the voltage converter of your laptop (looks like this: http://www.laptopcharge.com/images/DATAPIC/191/adapter.jpg )
There if it only says 100~120V you will need a voltage converter. (About $50)
If it says 100~240V you will only need a plug adapter (about $2)

My US laptop did not require a transformer for connecting in the UK. All I needed was the plug converter (if you don't have one, check out Radio Shack or you can find one at the airport shops). You should check the power supply information on your power cord to see what is listed for your specific device though. I'm pretty sure though that most laptops would handle US/UK power.

No AC Adapter needed, just a plug adapter: http://www.eoutlet.co.uk/ProductDetails.aspx?productID=249
See on the back of the charger's adapter what's the input supported. (Usually 100-240V)

No. You should be fine. The power gets stored in your battery first, then goes into your laptop. Just the outlet converter.
