Today its the 883cc, in the Hugger Sportster, in years past it was as small as 250cc, there may have been a 175 at one point for a short time.

I've owned both, they are both great bikes. I've had four Sportsters and 9 other HD bikes over fifty years. The Sportster has a smaller engine and is not a woman's bike. The Dyna series has extra gas in the frame and the oil bag is in the gas tank. Dyna is much more comfortable and lower to the ground. The difference is in the performance, if you get the Dyna you will know where the 6K went to. I have an 06 Ultra Classic and have NEVER mocker another bike owner. I never even mock the jap bike owners, we're all bikers. The only thing I didn't like about the Dyna (Street Bob) were the handlebars which can be replaced. Ride on Brother.

Small Harley Davidson

Harley Davidson started business in 1903 with a 50 cc single piston engine mounted on a bicycle.

1911 was the year Harley Davidson introduced the V-Twin.

Today Harley Davidson dealers are selling a motorcycle with the brand name "Buell". If you aren't ready for a full size Harley, you can get a Buell from the Harley dealer.

harley once made a bike as small as a 125 (harley sprint-made in italy in the late 70:s)

They have also had 750, 900, 1200 and the current 883 sportsters.

There larger bikes used to be measured in inches, in the 40's they made a 45 inch bike for the war effort, as well as 74 cubic inchs (1200cc) and 80 inch (1340 cc)

Hope this answers your question.

Today, it's the 883 cc motor in the little Sporty's. And not really enough motor to move the thing. It's the bargain basement hog, if you have to have an H-D.

If you go back a bit, the motors were really small. Not the rockin' and rollin' pieces of iron they use today. I have A TC-88 in my ride. HOOOO-RHAHHH. Nice motor.

Go to www H-D.com. You can see the new bikes, and check for a dealer by local zip code. Take care, ride safe.

currently the smallest is the 883, however Harley is dropping the 883 so the smallest from here on out will be the 1200.

If you mean current models, the 492CC Buell Blast. If you want to exclude Buell, then it's the 883cc Sportster.

all the Harleys are small compared to todays cruisers of 1800 to 2200 cc high tech water cooled overhead cam fuel injected monster motors.
They better get some technology in their bikes or their sheep following will age out in a few years and they will be hurting.
