Let's see:
(1) Murdering a law enforcement official in the line of duty, regardless of whether you knew or did not know this person was a law enforcement officer -- This offense should warrant a mandatory death sentence,
(2) Premeditated murder -- Should also warrant a mandatory death sentence,
(3) Willful murder committed in the heat of the moment,
(4) Sexual offenses involving a child under the age of consent

P.S.: Anyone who is anti-death-penalty is pro-criminal. If you are against the death penalty, you're basically saying that a person who has put himself/herself above the law and has either taken someone's life or devastated another's life has more of a right to life than their victim. If the death penalty is never justified in your mind, and I don't care who you are, you're wrong. DEAD wrong.

The question ought to be whether society benefits from the death penalty.

Risks of executing innocent people-
124 people on death rows have been released with evidence of their innocence. DNA is available in less than 10% of all homicides and isn’t a guarantee we won’t execute innocent people.

The death penalty doesn't prevent others from committing murder. No reputable study shows the death penalty to be a deterrent. To be a deterrent a punishment must be sure and swift. The death penalty is neither. Homicide rates are higher in states and regions that have it than in states that don’t.

We have a good alternative. Life without parole is now on the books in 48 states. It means what it says. It is sure and swift and rarely appealed. Life without parole is less expensive than the death penalty.

Death penalty costs. The death penalty costs much more than life in prison, mostly because of the legal process. When the death penalty is a possible sentence, extra costs start mounting up before trial, continue through the uniquely complicated trial in death penalty cases (actually 2 separate stages, mandated by the Supreme Court), and appeals.

The death penalty doesn't apply to people with money. Its not reserved for the “worst of the worst,” but for defendants with the worst lawyers. When is the last time a wealthy person was on death row, let alone executed?

The death penalty doesn't necessarily help families of murder victims. Murder victim family members across the country argue that the drawn-out death penalty process is painful for them and that life without parole is an appropriate alternative.

Problems with speeding up the process. Over 50 of the innocent people released from death row had already served over a decade. If the process is speeded up we are sure to execute an innocent person.

Child molesters deserve the death penalty. I do not believe that they can be rehabilitated and giving them life in prison allows the perpetrator the opportunity to "remember" his victims and get off on it. They're sick individuals and as far as I'm concerned they don't deserve to live.

Murder. Anyone, who under normal circumstances would be a threat to kill again should be given the death penalty.

murder, pedophilia, accomplice to murder, being an illegal immigrant.

I would have added rape, but that word gets thrown around way too easy. First off too many jaded wives use it in divorce proceedings, and too many gals say they were "raped" the day after.

Statistically with all the false allegations of rape, I cannot support rape being punished by the death penalty.

Murder, rape, and especially child rape or molestation. There is no cure for pedophiles, so just get rid of 'em!
