Too far from the mainland. Maybe the NBA is not yet ready for a franchise away from Mainland USA.
Toronto is just north of New York, so that's no big deal.
But if ever, a NBA franchise was to be born in Hawaii, how about calling it 'Hawaii Tropics'?

No - at least not yet.

Folks don't go to Hawaii for basketball. I believe they actually have things to do and see that don't involve sitting in a big box to watch a game.

I doubt there is currently enough interest/fan base in Hawaii.

I disagree with others about travel - yeah, it is a ways away, but so's the ride from Miami to Seattle.

Same I don't see why not, other than there is no NBA team that represents a state.

So not Hawaii maybe one of it's cities.

They could probably do it, but it depends who'd play for them. They'd have a long road ahead of them, due to the fact they are pretty far ... about 6 hrs on a plane ride from Hawaii to California. Think about the money they'd need to travel back and fourth to other states!

no way. if they're not gonna put one in las vegas then hawaii has no shot. its like 2-5 time zones away from everyone else. and who's gonna go out there to play...or watch the games.

bad for the enviornment both in hawaii (arena and living quarters eat up valuable space) and the jet fuel bill would be enormous. we environmentalist would really jump on this bad idea.
