Novelty Car Horns

Novelty horns were the rage a few years back when custom cars were around. A driver may fit one of these, colonel bogey, trumpet volentry, cow moo, etc. BUT they must be wired to a seperate switch NOT directly to the stearing wheel horn. The point is that its a road warning and people would not automaticaly take notice of a musical horn.

For a vehicle first used on or after 1 August 1973, a sound emitted by the horn must be, and I quote:

. a constant note.
. continuous or uniform.
. not harsh or grating.

Quite what the last condition really means I don't know, but I presume it refers to a klaxon.

PS This refers to the UK.

The tone of a horn is intentionally abrasive with a view to call interest to itself, like an alarm clock. 'street rage' is a made-up term. while human beings do stupid issues in front of human beings, they're going to make the different individual mad at them. If somebody factors out to you which you're using like an fool, do not provide them the finger, provide them the wave and enable them to get previous you. in case you do something dumb in front of somebody, they honk the horn, and additionally you're on your cell telephone - cling up at present. once you're using, your regular interest is to pay interest. velocity limits are extremely arbitrary, yet pay interest.

I think it would be cool to have one of those. Check with the state vehicle department and ask them what the mininum decibel's required are. If the horn meets those then it is legal.
