no,our planet can function properly without us,but we are the only one who can protect and save it

The planet is roughly 4.5 billion years old. Humans of our species Homo Sapiens have existed for about 200 thousand years. Obviously the world did quite well without us for nearly all of its existence and the current state of health of its biosphere suggests that it could do far better without us.

It didn't for millions of years.

We're just another animal that evolved and we can go extinct just like any other animal that went extinct.
