The key IS the START. Jump on your studies from DAY ONE, so that you don't get behind. Obviously you're going to have a feeling out process, accessing the difficulty and workload of each class. But as you get acclamated, start devoting a set number of hours to your studies EACH school day. BE CONSISTENT! Try to get into a pattern of studying HARD 5 or 6 days a week, and take one weekend day for recreational activities. Don't burn yourself out. You gotta have a little fun too.

Developing or maintaining tremendous work ethic now will pay off heavily in the future. Trust me.

I have AP as well, and I find that setting aside all the extra things you did all summer like huge amounts of personal reading etc., helps a lot. I was in an AP World History last year and by reading the material more than once, going over it in my head on the bus, and eating a good breakfast also helped. Review with other people in your classes. They might have picked up a very important piece you missed, or even present a different view to consider. If anything, study, study, study. :)

Stay organized. Keep a calendar with important dates listed on them (reports, tests, projects). I find a monthly calendar is best because you can easily see if there is going to be a 'crunch time' where you have 5 things due in one week.
Then plan for it. Try to do some of the work early.
The most important thing is to keep up with the workload, don't slack off or postpone anything or you will get behind - - and that does take effort, but if you have 6 AP classes I would imagine you are up for that challenge.
Best of luck to you!!

If you are doing extra- cirricular activities too, try to do as much of your homework and studying in study hall as possible, and develop routine study habits to lighten the load. Remember; procrastination is the worst thing you could do when your taking all ap classes and have a busy schedule. If you don't have a busy schedule, then go straight home after school and get your assignments done, and then they won't be hanging over you, especially a long term project. And stay organized... if you have a bunch of stuff crammed everywhere, you won't know what is what, and your grades will go down.

Make sure that you are on top of all your school work and don't get behind... study really hard and do extra... alst year we ahd a teacher who told us at the begining of the year that we should go over all our notes a little bit every night so that we don't forget anything... i didn't do that so i cant tell you if it helps you acheive higher. I have recieved As for most of my subjects and i found that using mindmaps in my study helps. You stick the main idea in the middle and then just stick all smaller ones around. it really helps you organise your thoughts and an exciting way to study.

Good luck :P

To get a good start, eat sensibly, get enough sleep on a regular basis, and exercise. At school, take one day at a time and do not allow yourself to procrastinate on finishing assignments. Don't get behind. Learn each day's lesson as it comes; then you won't have to cram for exams. Maintain good study techniques and don't allow trivial interruptions distract you. If you have a problem with a lesson seek help from your instructor. This will help keep your stress level manageable. Good luck on a successful year.

Just remember that in the first couple of weeks, the classes begin slow. So do not slack off! If you do slack off, you'll already be in the habit of doing so. Then, the classes will start throwing work in your face, and you're going to be ruined for the rest of the year.

FOCUS!! if A's is what u want then so be it!
participation in your activities ....if you dont understand
ask till you "get it"
dont let your peers sway you.. tell them ...."im not getting my school work ...i must study this!
DISCIPLINE: even if u dont have 2 hours of homework...make 2 hours of homework....then one hour of physical activity
relax!! enjoy the few hours you have befor sleeping
i would keep your mind as quiet as possiable , when your school work is done , let your mind relax and rest
to prepare for the next day!! do not watch movies or
play video games on school nights!!
what happens is your brain will still be in over drive ...while your trying to sleep
soo only if u like, saturday nights for this indulgence.
and drink lots of water ....not befor bed!!! lol

Just keep all of your stuff organized. I'm a Junior and have to keep everything very, very neat in order to keep things straight. If you get any free time at all during the day, just do you homework then to get a head start on it. Stay organized and keep moving forward and get the homework done. Initiative!
