No, why should there be? Parents would still be responsible for most of the purchases. How else will I know what my children want for their birthday and Christmas. As long as it is not a harmful product, there is no problem.

It's obviously a marketing strategy. There is a lot of research that goes into trying to figure out what appeals to kids.
Furthermore, the next time you're in a store, pay attention to what kinds of products are at about 3½' or lower - right where kids will see them. Usually it's things that appeal to kids like the sugary cereals and what not. This is not just a coincidence.

Why yes.. advertisement targetting children IS a marketing strategy, also apple are fruit and water is wet. I'm not seeing what point you're trying to make there.
There is nothing wrong with advertising your product, how else are people going to know about it? If you make something for adults, you advertise to adults. If you make something for kids, you advertise to kids. If the parents of those kids don't think their children should have it.. they should say NO.

there should be no ban on advertising as long as it is not lying or harmful.
Companies make money off people buying their products and they sell them by letting people know they are out there.
If a parent is not able to tell a child no if they dont feel the product is something the child should have it is a problem with the lack of parenting not advertising.
As a kid I was told no more than i was told yes. people need to start parenting again.

I read that in Great Briton, ads using "Nag Factors" are illegal, that is, ads that target children to get them to nag their parents to buy things are illegal, but I heard that they also have loopholes.
I also heard that in Germany, sales and discounted prices are illegal. You have to charge one rate and never put it on sale. The logic supposedly is that companies jack the prices way up to be able to mislead people with a sale into thinking they are getting a bargain.

There should be a ban on advertising targeting anyone! Free speech is political speech, not commercial speech.

Yes,
Its blatant plus they should ban loan company adverts too
but there never will be a ban, the market is huge and would effect world economy too much.

No, instead people should limit a childs consumption of television, and not let them watch anything on TV until the parent has screened it.
You know, that whole responsible parenting thing.

No, there should be less parents who blame EVERYONE else for the reason that they cannot parent. The TV is not more powerful that a person. Parents need to start taking responsibilty and stop blaming TV, music, and movies for THEIR problems.

I think thats how companies make most of their money. With nagging kids begging their parents for that thing they saw.
