Some people love to dress up Fido, Gigi or Fluffy in a frilly little tutu, an adorable jacket, or a costume for Halloween.

Where do you stand on dogs and cats in clothing?

And, I am not talking about putting a sweater on your short-haired little guy on a cold winter's day. I am talking dressing them up for looks/fun.

Thanks!

OMG, no. I think it's degrading and humiliating to try and treat animals like something they're not. They're not babies, they're not dress-up dolls: they are creatures that deserve love and respect for being just what they are.

...Did I just read that someone takes their dog for a walk in a stroller?? Excuse me, isn't the point of walking the dog so that it gets exercise?? PETS ARE NOT BABIES AND SHOULD NOT BE TREATED LIKE THEM.

I would say no. I do not dress up my animals. Most of the time they don't seem to enjoy it. I worked at a pet store and people would make them try on clothes and the poor things would fight to get away.

Well, I have a Teacup Yorkie and he loves to be dressed up like his mommie and daddy especially when he is going to get in his stroller and go for a walk in the park, or when he is getting in his tote to go to the pet store to buy him a new toy or a new bed or something so dressing a dog or cat up is cool if they like but some dogs and cats don't like it at all and it has to be a toy dog not something like a pitbull or something cause that just isn't cute at all.

well, as i can see nowadays, people REALLY love to dress up animals especially dogs, it's really cute though. honestly i dress up my dog sometimes, but not like everyday. Besides fashion and well, for fun, I think it's a good business.

so, clothing on pets... YES!

I think it's cute for Halloween, but other than that no. Cats/dogs seem to hate wearing clothes.

It depends on the pet. If you have to fuss and the pet is fighting not to get the clothing on- then don't put clothing on it
If the pet seems fine with what you are doing- go ahead!

Bit silly really but I suppose it's harmless, obviously most of the animals don't mind.
Not for me though - my cats are nude apart from collars and my dogs have big coats if it's really cold

Hi there, YES! why not ? as long as the animal loves it, wants to do it, feels and behaves like its some sort of a game , yes ! also dont worry about what the world thinks of it , its between the animal and the owner my dog loves sunglasses and he looks cool with them on at the beach ,not to mention that his eyes benefit from them yeahhhhhhhhhh!

I think it is stupid and wrong! I would never dress up my pets and I know they wouldn't like it! We have put reindeer antlers on our dog Xmas day just for a picture, but that is it. And he didn't like that much!! Dress up is for kids and dolls!

Some animals do like it. I know its not exactly clothing, but my in-laws' chow loves her bandanna so much that she'll bring it to you and wait for you to put it on her.
