Alt + an number. e.g. Alt + 136 = ê, Alt + 138 = è

If you are asking how to type an accented character....

Click on Start, then Run and type in: charmap
This will open a window which shows you all the non-standard characters available in the font you are using (such as accented letters). You can either select the letter you want, copy it, and paste it into your document, or if you place your cursor on a letter for a few seconds, it will display a key combination you can press to type that letter. This works for any program. If you are using MS Word, you can reach the accented characters through the Insert menu, and the Symbols choice.

You find them in the tools bar under symbols and they are used in foreign languages. cafe will automatically put an accent
