I am planning a vacation in Destin Fl in late October early November. Is the weather still decent around that time and what are the odds of a hurricane? Also , are the crowds any smaller that late in the year?

The weather is pretty good then.The temp is in the 70's during the daay and 50's at night.
The hurricane season ends in October but with nature you can not predict.
But my wife and I go to the Emerald Coast(Panama City to Fort Walton) in the fall to enjoy ourselfs without the large crowds.

Of course!!! The weather is great that time of year: Highs in the upper 70s and the lows in the 50s... there's always a chance for a hurricane... keep an eye on the news... unlike tornados, avalanches, flash floods, earthquakes and forest fires.... we get about a two week warning when a hurricane is inbound.... if you get hit by something the size of a state going 30 mph... well, you just aren't very smart or well taken care for... cat 1/2 Hurricane party... cat 3+ its time for a road trip to see those friends and relatives you've been meaning to see...
The crowds are great at the time of year you are thinking of visiting. During spring break we get about 300,000 tourists and have the capability of providing resturants and entertainment ( although mostly that's the beach ) for such large crowds. In November it's mostly locals ( ~12,000 )... so you'll have no traffic issues, no waiting in lines for steaks&shrimp, the beaches will be practically empty and the water will still be warm.

I have been to Destin several times on business trips during peak and off peak seasons. Your time frame would be very good, as the crowds have gone, traffic isn't as bad, and the hotel rates are cheaper. Also by that time, hurricane season is "officially" over. Have a nice time!

Florida in general is a great place to go to that time of year. Destin seems to be a hot spot, but if you are not going during the holiday weekends, it shouldn't be that busy. If you would like to book your trip you could go to www.mls.globaltravel.com
