Personally I thought that a thought was as fast as light and vice verser, but thought is actually faster.
Do the neuro-reactions inside your head happen in little electrical pulses - light is it not?
Lightening!
Thought = light ... Light = thought
I also think that light peters out over distance so thought would be the ulitmate winner.
Thought < light
...just my take on it :o)
But wait... !
If a stubbed toe runs at 50milli-seconds?
...to recognise a picture... about 300milliseconds.
...how fast per m/s is thought?
Apparently the TOTAL speed of thought is between 550 and 750 milliseconds.
Yet prime thought is instantaneous...it is innately part of a being... and time along with matter, energy and space are not a factor affecting it, and in fact, are effected by it. It has more to do with a "knowing" or a consideration of how things are. You can know without thinking.
So, speed of thought is relative to a person's case condition, and speed of thought is relative to whether it is prompted from a stimulus or whether it is more innate.
By the way, "thought" is not part of the brain. The brain is a bunch of organic cells for the body to expedite communications.
There is a difference between 'thinking' and 'thought'.
Your answer will depend on whether you yourself view the world from a biological point of view or a spiritual one...
Biological = Light wins 1st with 180,000 miles per 1 second.
Thought in with [thinking] at between 550 and 750milliseconds
OR
Spiritual = Thought wins 1st, at instantaneious levels.
Light still at 180,000 miles per 1 second.

Light is the fastest. Some brainfunctions work by sending electric signals but most are chemical. And the fastest signals in the brain are still way slower than light because the brains "operatingsystem" doesn´t run at the speed of light.

Whereas nerve impulses are electro-chemical in nature, they do NOT propagate through the nerves at the speed of light. In order for neural impules to travel through the body, actual ions need to be transported across synaptic gaps, and the resulting charge imbalance at one end of a neuron needs to be transferred to the other end of the neuron. The actual speed of signal transfer in neurons is on the order of 120 m/s. This means that it may take as much as 50 ms for your brain to get the message that you have stubbed your toe.

Since a thought is an electrical impulse and electricity travels rather less than the speed of light, then "light" is the answer.

Light is real, thought is virtual.
Thought, (language), can be transmitted by
means of light. Not the reverse.
Get it?
