You are the one that determines your happiness. If people are always moody, they can't find happiness. Happiness is what you make of your life. You don't need riches to be happy. I like helping people, that's why I became a nurse. So many factors can determine your happiness but it's up to you to make that decision. The majority of my happiness comes from having a great husband & 4 great kids. My sisters & brothers & I are very close & that makes me very happy. I know not everyone will have the same experiences, but I feel if you don't hold grudges, for instance, you won't be carrying that burden of being angry with someone. That alone can make a person miserable because they're always thinking ways to "get back" so to speak. Of course, this is my opinion & others will disagree, but that's what this forum is for. Be happy!

I think you are right, as happiness seems to me to be connected to our feelings of satisfaction in life. Do we challenge every good feeling? I am not sure because I don't think I do. Maybe its an age thing and we are more relaxed as we get older. Or perhaps its just an acceptance of the moment and a realisation that feelings of happiness can be fleeting so should be enjoyed not queried or dissected.

Happiness is the fullfilment of the purpose of our nature in accord with virtue. Our sense of dis-satisfaction in life is not so much rooted in the "need to give a reason to happiness", but in our reduction of happiness to an emotional state and the dis-association of purpose from virtue.

Happiness is not the goal of life - it is the purpose of life.
If we are not happy it is because something has gone wrong.
Generally, what has gone wrong is that we have pre-judged what we need to feel happy - I need this; I need that or I will not be happy.
It is said that if one has no desires, one will quite simply be happy. This is not very realistic in this world.
Simply do not set requirements in regards to happiness and it will flower on its own. One need do nothing save accept what is already there naturally.

We are eager to be happy. Sometimes in a good selfish way whenever self esteem asks us. But that doesn't fulfill us and then we can only wish it - happiness - to became bigger and we include others what is not easy. Time is our human "problem" that we learn to deal with - even if we bad tempered honesty doesn't let us to forget it.
It's receiving part's knock at our door - how much costs to deal with all things true hapiness brings? To learn to apologise and ask to be warmed is not easy... what for sure happiness doesn't allow is inner denials

Yeah we're too skeptical but life is hard so we have to be always on guard and prepare for the worst as it would make the sadness easier. With us it's all about grief or misfortunes and we feel so obliged to find ways to prevent or decrease the sadness that is to come that we forget the happiness we might be in. If happiness comes spontaneously and we don't feel like we've earned it, we find no reason for it so we don't allow ourselves to fully just have fun and let go.

We're addicted to happy feelings, we want to be even more addicted and facts get in the way?
Is your presumption that our purpose in life is to gather happy feelings?

I have no problem being happy so maybe you should stop generalizing. As a matter of fact you are over-analyzing. STOP! Just let yourself be happy.

happiness is not only a mere feeling, but a series of decisions.
