Why is it so? To reduce the cost or increase the pain. What is the reason behind it that most women go for natural.

It's more natural. Although caesarian sounds like it's a simple easy procedure with no pain and all, it's actually major surgery, which has its risks, and then there are other diadvantages like you're left with a scar. Plus there is no reason to change yet, it is expensive and all, I don't even know if it's always a choice unless medically necessary. I met a woman who had to have her baby by caesarian and it was terrible. She was completely off her face on drugs afterwards and messed up in a bed and it took a long time for her to recuperate. I think she also had complications and needed a longer hospital stay than otherwise. Now natural birth is no picnic but caesarian is quite possibly worse.

Because it's natural. There is no guarantee that if one has a C-section that she will have less pain or that even the birth will be easier. Also, a C-section isn't really a birth, but surgery. If god had intended me to have a C-section, then I would not have birth canal. As it is, my baby (with whom I am eight and a half months pregnant) is already in the proper position and I will do everything within my power to have this girl as naturally as possible, which means getting the hospital room with he birthing tub, no drugs and definitely no C-section. Ideally, I would have like to have a water birth at home with a midwife, but since my husband and I moved from one state to another during my eighth month, I knew it wasn't feasible. I have faith that my baby will even guide me into what to do, after all, she's the one coming out. I have faith that God will give us both a healthy delivery and recovery. Yes, you might think I'm weird. I don't care. God blessed me not only with the ability to have children, but with one. If God did not think me capable, I would not even be pregnant.

I am not a mother but I am a medical student so I will answer it according to what I know.

Normal spontaneous delivery or NSD is way better than cesarian section. These are among its advantages:

1. It has lesser complications.
2. Because it is the "normal" form of delivery.
3. It's not costly.
4. Many mothers can already perform their daily routine or go back to their work after giving birth, usually they are already capable of working within 24 hours.
5. It requires shorter hospital stay, thus lesser hospital-acquired infections and most importantly, it entails lesser expenses. A mother can usually discharge from the hospital 24 hours after giving birth.

Because a caeserian childbirth leaves the woman with a nice long scar on her lower abdomen.
