Go and see the doctor
Go see the doctor
Go to the doctor

Can you explain the fine distinctions between each phrase?

Could the same be said of going to Dentists, Architects, etc?

Thanks.

Go to the doctor, implies that the person being told, needs to be examined by a physician.

Go see the doctor implies that you might just need a consultation from a physician and not need a physical examination.

Go to the Doctor implies urgency. That the person should see the physician right away.

And yes, the same could be said of going to a Dentist or and Architect, etc.

Go and see - emphasizes that someone should go - like, go on, get it done, stop putting it off.

Go see - this is US usage and is the same meaning as ...

Go to - UK usage - both just mean, go to (see) the doctor :-)
