Hmmm.... so LJ ended his holdout and will be coming back.

I have pick #3 in my draft. Who should I take as my featured RB?

I was planning on taking Gore because of LJ's holdout, his expected dropoff because of last year's workload, and because the Chiefs are generally getting worse.

What now?

If you had to choose between LJ or Gore at #3 who would you take?

I am aware that a lot of people might take Addai or maybe Alexander here but for me it is between LJ and Gore.

By the way, in my league you only have to start one mandatory RB so I am not planning on adding that much depth behind whoever I take here. I want one workhorse back, and then lots of veteran wideouts.

you must absolutely take frank gore. there is a very high chance that L.J. will get injured this year, or put up numbers that will be about only half of last years production. If you look at history, any time an RB gets 400+ carries in a season, his next season ends up riddled with injuries or plagued by poor performance. Frank Gore is an up and coming running back on the up and coming San Fransisco 49ers and he should have a surprisingly good year just like the rest of his team.

I drafted this past saturday and had the number 3 pick also out of 12. I'm a huge niner fan and I picked LJ over Gore. It can vary slightly between the settings of each league but in my league LJ is worth the pick. He's a touchdown machine and he's more proven. If it's too hard for you to decide then let the schedule help you out. Figure out what weeks are playoffs for your league if it's not rotisserie and choose which RBs schedules are more favorable. In the end it doesn't matter all too much cause both backs are great and it's about your whole team. if you end up choosing LJ then i hope your team kicks *** like mine.

its a toss up. seriously. you can't go wrong with either. Gore will be a yardage machine, LJ will get TD's. Gore has a better O-Line, better QB to work with. Johnson also is coming off a 416 carry season. that being said, Johnson is still a serious force, and will likely get another 400 carry season. hell be a 1600 yd, 17 TD type guy again, as to where Gore might be an 1800, 12 TD guy. can't go wrong with either pick at 3. i know this doesn't really answer your question, but take it as you are safe either way.

for the record, and this MAY influence you, Gore faces only 2 top-10 defenses all year, and none during fantasy playoff weeks, while LJ faces 6 top-10 defenses, including 1 during fantasy playoffs. just food for thought.

I wouldn't make Gore my feature back until next year. I want to see those knees make it through 2 full seasons. They guys had at least two major knee reconstructions. Don't disregard Addai so easily, also. I'd trade down two spots, get Addai and an extra pick. I think he's absolutely the best value in this years draft. The feature back in indy? those numbers are going to be lovely.
