Please don't bore us all by down-loading dozens of examples or 'educating' us with the origins of Cockney Rhyming Slang etc, this is JUST a bit of light-hearted fun ok.
Modern versions like my example & even your own make-ups are welcome. cheers.

I don't know if it's Cockney Rhyming Slang but it's used in Australia.

Tin Lids = Kids.

What I love about rhyming slang is how over the years a lot of the rhymes have been dropped off the end.
You're then left with the non rhyming part only,
eg trouble and strife = wife, which became just "trouble" or
butchers hook = look became just "butchers".

It makes it very difficult to work out the meaning if you haven't heard it before. It becomes a real brain teaser.

That's my fave as well Jamino - but I thought it was from north of the border! It's in the Scots dictionary. Also corn beef - deaf (pronounced the same as beef - Weegie origins)! lol

Edit: Must admit I LOVE the Cockney Rhyming slang - think it's brilliant!
