After i have cleaned it, when i switch it back on it spits out the large particles that collect on the foam parts. It all comes out of the pipes that connect it to the water. Is there any prevention, after the foam pads it has a polishing pad to collect micro particles so this is another reason why i cant understand it.

That is the built up crap in the lines you can do two things one hard one easy You should have rec'd with your fluval a brush for cleaning the line's or tubing whatever you want to call it. This involves taking everything apart OR what I do cuz I'm lazy since I know the crap is going to come out when I turn it back on I just get my fish net put it next to the output nozzle and then turn it on and I catch 95% of all the crap alot less hassle that cleanning the lines

Have you exchanged the carbon cartridge as well? If not that might be the reason, it will spit out any particles which are loose in your filter

or you haven't caught everything that was in there

Hope that helps
good luck

how old is your filter media? it might need replaced if you have not done so.
Sounds like the filter media is breaking up if its spitting out bits of fluff
