I think it was great how many people can write about a running marrathon, and make it exciting. It is one of those books you would just look at the title and be like boring... but it is a very good read.

I just recently reread it. The first time I read it was when it came out--it had "Rage" with it, which is now out of print because of the school shootings here in the US. "Rage" wasn't really that great a story, but "The Long Walk" is amazing, I think. You are right--only a genius can write a story about a walk and make it so intense it keeps you up at night.

I really like the Bachman books, and I think King did some of his best work under that name. Another of my favorites is "Thinner", and that's one of the Bachman books, too. I need to dig out my copy and reread that one, as well.

I adore this story. It was one of the first things by King that I ever read years ago and it blew me away (I was only in my early teens so it left quite an impression). Garratty, if my memory serves me correctly was the hero, and I can remember how nervous I felt for him and the other boys. Great story!

Is that the one where there's a marathon that the boys of the town compete in to win the ultimate prize? And kids get killed for lagging behind, and they $hit and pi$$ while they walk? I think I read that in highschool. Personally I like Angel's & Demons by Dan Brown--best book ever!

Stephen King novels are usually fairly easy to read.

Sorry, I stopped reading King after reading the hook to "The Dark Half". It was so ridiculous, and just compounded all the other stupid things he'd written at that time. He's barmy, ok, but really. Sorry, but King to me is strictly National Enquirer grade reading.

It was very good. The entire collection that made up the Bachman books was very good.
