Chances are slim. Creatures of that nature feed on attention and fear. It is best to try and ignore him. Forget that he has your shoe for now. Pretend that you don't even know it's gone. Once you have forgotten about him all together your shoe will return and he will be gone... or he'll eat your soul. One or the other.

I wouldn't worry about the boogie man. Any idiot stupid enough to only take one shoe can't be too much of a threat.
