It was like the majority of the true wizards (the pure bloods) had lost their cause, this means that the next generation of wizards and witches wouldn't be completely magical, but have muggle genes. In other words the ending of book 7 showed a race of people being almost wiped out completely as the remaining Wizards and Witches wouldnt mind marrying muggles.

I never really thought about that so much. But that is pretty sad, yes. I was a little disappointed with the ending because it all seemed really surreal and fairytale like. You'd think after a book like that there would be some sort of thing at the end that causes a bit of trouble. But I think it was pretty much one of the only ways to end the book, despite my slight dislike for it.

well i really dont think that many of the so called "pure-bloods" were actually pure blood in the first place. alot of them were pretending. Voldemort had basically a squib for a mother and a muggle for a farther and yet he put so much value on the familys of others. before the 7th book came out, i was thinking about where the muggle borns got thier magic from and it was never really explained. i hope that eventually the worlds of muggle and magic will live in harmony, but we'll never really find out.
as for the ending to the book, i thought that the epilogue was a bit rushed, and didnt seem to answer all the questions people may have had.

I think your reasoning may be a bit flawed. Look at Hermione, she is completely muggle born yet she is a witch. I don't think that marrying between the two would cause any less magical births.

The really sad part in the book was when Dobby died. I cried my eyes out throughout the whole funeral. Then when Tonks, Fred and Lupin died, I was inconsolable. Lots of great characters died in that one...really sad.

Wizards have always mixed with muggles and, very importantly, muggle-borns otherwise they would have been extinct by now. But I still don't believe that Draco would marry a muggle-born, or some other Slyterin would.

Well, HP married an able and pure-blooded magician, and had kids as well as Remus (Lupis?) and Tonks' son as godson... I guess I never thought about it the way you have. I considered the pure-bloods to often be attracted to same for marriage. They are rare people who go into mixed marriages, y'know? Even muggles etc., I would think, now that you've brought it up.

I don't find it sad at all. This way anyone with the talent would be able to become a wizard if they wished. Instead of only pure bloods being the privileged ones.

oh btw; i am totally in love with stephamie's answer.....

i kinda get what you are saying.i am black and i have dated outside of my race.i really do not want people to think of my comment as racist, but with so much interracial marriges ,how can any one 100 years from now look back and say with pride,'I am Irish,''or''i'm Spanish.''Harry Potter got me to thinking about that and all i saw was a bunch of people trying to preserve something sacred to them.I cannot honestly say what my full background is and i do get envious of other families who can say 100 percent that they are indian or asian.my family tree was lost when my grandmother died.

I can't say... I haven't allowed myself to finish it yet.

I know, I know...It can't last forever, but I've really grown attached to this world and I'm still not ready to let it go. I've allowed myself to reach chapter 11, but I probably won't read anymore till the beginning of September.
