I prefer to fly but the ticket prices I have seen are high. Is there a cheap airline that does this route?

Besides walking/or peddling a bike? A special fare on southwest airlines or another offering a special. Busses cost almost the same as a plane ticket and take twice as long if not longer.

The best deals for both air and hotels are uslly with the airlines themselves. I would try Southwest Vacations or US Airways Vacations. From Austin, depending on the time of year and which days, can be anywhere from $200-400 for a weekend. These would be the best from Austin, with direct flights too. These two "low fare airlines" are usally the cheapest packaged deals. You can even buy transports to the hotels from the airport and more in one package. They are pretty easy to navigate and will show you the cost breakdown for different hotels. I have used both of these specifically for travel to LV. Compare the prices on Vegas.com, which uses US Airways/American West, but is always higher than if you go direct to their site.

If you can't find cheap airfare from Austin, consider a short drive to San Antonio. From there the rates are better, you have a wider selection of flights and more direct flights to Las Vegas. You may want to consider looking into Funjet Vacations. They have a limited schedule from San Antonio, Houston and DFW only traveling a couple of days a week, but they can usually get you the airfare and hotel for less than most airlines airfare alone. From Austin you are limited in your options.

Have you tried Southwest Airlines? They tend to be the cheapest.

Teleporter- or sneak on a bus or plane- maybe steal a car- then you'd have to steal gas. Hitchhike, is an option, too.
