Yes, I always do that. :) And I always say thank you to all who answer my questions, not only to the one I choose for BA. :)
Edit: To (((Jay6))) - Thank you for your kindness! :)
I closed the link for messages because I'm having very serious health problems in my family, and don't have time to be online and writing much.

Yes, I try to remember to send an e-mail to thank the person for choosing my answer as best answer.
I agree it's polite and a nice thing to do - it's true it doesn't cost anything to be nice - it's just a question of time (very little) and memory.
It's also nice to thank people in advance for answering your question when you ask a question - I sometimes do that, also if I remember.
As you can see it's hard for me to remember all the nice and good things I should be doing.
Here are the lyrics to Thanks for the Memory:
Thanks for the memory:
Of things I can't forget, journeys on a jet,
Our wond'rous week in Martinique and Vegas and roulette.
How lucky I was.
And thanks for the memory:
Of summers by the sea, dawn in Waikiki.
We had a pad in London but we didn't stop for tea;
How cozy it was.
Now since our breakup I wake up
Alone on a gray morning-after.
I long for the sound of your laughter,
And then I see the laugh's on me.
But, thanks for the memory:
Of every touch a thrill. I've been through the mill.
I've lived a lot and learned a lot, you loved me not and still;
I miss you so much.
Thanks for the memory:
Of how we used to jog even in a fog,
That barbecue in Malibu, away from all the smog -
How rainy it was.
Thanks for the memory:
Of letters I destroyed, books that we enjoyed,
Tonight the way things look, I need a book by Sigmund Freud -
How brainy he was.
Gone are those evenings on Broadway.
Together we'd go to a great show.
But now I begin with the Late Show,
And wish that you were watching, too.
I know it's a fallacy:
That grown men never cry, baby, that's a lie.
We had our bed of roses, but forgot that roses die.
And thank you so much.

If at all possible I leave at least a quick Thank You. I just like being courteous and I think it lets them know you are genuine about trying to answer their questions - both the serious and the funny.

Yes, if the best answer comes from the asker instead of from voting, I usually e-mail a short thank-you, sometimes with a follow-on comment.

Most of the time I do, especially if the person that gave me best answer is one of my contacts and I kow him/her a little.
It's a polite thing to do, it shows your appreciation and doesn't really cost you much.
So, thank you for the past best answers and you are welcome about the recent one!
Hugs xx

Most of the time I try to email them or put an addition notation on the question page.

I apologize if I haven't sent you any "thank you for best answer" notes, but you see...
I'm a very busy answerer, and there's only so many hours in the day, and...
You're so cute...can I get a hug, instead...? (I'll even hug Rat Tail, too...he's ma' bro...)
