So basically right now the US is being pressured by the world to intervene in Darfur with the genocide and all. But the real question is should we? I mean won't it just turn out to be another Somalia? Were fighting a civil war again like we did in Vietnam and most recently Iraq and sooner or later it will just turn into another money pit and we will be once again the object of criticism and be called "Warmongers". So should the US just say no to Darfur and calm down for a bit and let the Europeans take care of it?

Oh yeah since someone got confused already even though everyone pretty much got what I meant , when I said "bail out" I meant to not go in. Not bail out as in get out of Darfur. It was just a way of saying it jeez

We should definately stop trying to be the police of the world. And other countries need to step in and take some responsibility for the situation there. Personally I think that we should pull out of every country that doesn't want us there and some others besides. It's time for others to do something and pay for it too.

One thing I never understood about the anti war left wingers. They cry about us being in Iraq, saying we don't belong there because it's a civil war. Yet they want us to go to Darfur, which is exactly that, a CIVIL WAR! I say we need to stay out of there and let the impotent and incompotent UN handle it.

A couple of years ago, The Economist ran an issue that stated on the cover, "Africa, The Hopeless Continent". The way I look at it, if they won't help themselves, there's not a whole lot we can do. Africans have to do this but there is little hope - these are the countries that just feted Mugabe at a recent Pan African meeting. Sheesh...

We let the UN and the dead Mummy handle it.
Ever wonder how the dead Mummy was dead and buried and was long gone with time.

Since they always say they have more than 100 members to solve the mess out there.
Wonder why they don't want our creator of heaven and earth to help out?
So we stand by the street and watch how they were doing.
When they could'nt solve it.
They always know where to look for the Ghost Buster.

If the world thinks they should fight in Darfur then they should go in themselves. I feel bad about what's happening to the people there, but it sounds like something that would backfire on us. If we had to fight Muslims, the liberals would say we were killing innocents. I wonder if any would be willing to go do some humanitarian aid there.

We weren't ever in Darfur to bail out of it
I have a hard time intervening in other nations national sovereignty, but in the event of a genocide it might be in our best interest as human being to intervene in some sort of extraction process

we pick and choose our interventions based on imperialism. I think we need to get out of this stuff entirely and bring our men and women home.
Let Europe, Russia and China handle it. They all have plenty of troops just sitting at home where the have been for a long time. Our troops need some serious home time.

We should ignore the situation, the victims of the slaughter are Christian. If we defended them we might turn Muslims into bloodthirsty killers. Nothing worse you can do for a situation involving genocide is to irritate the assailants, they might get mad and kill everyone, like they already are.

It will be another Kosovo. We'll show up, our military will fight the fight, then debate and diplomacy will settle in and in 8 years the UN will hold a special hearing to decide whether or not the country has the right to decide what to do with itself and it's population.
