I was pulled over in NY for 'obstruction of rearview mirror.' I had the typical rosary of the Virgin Mary on my rearview mirror. This is a common item placed on many rearview mirrors belonging to Christians! Is this right? Is there anyone who can help me fight this?! The officer handed me 15 tickets and I did nothing wrong! I was polite and I did not show any attitude! I think cops who take advantage of their power do not deserve their position. I may be Christian but i definitly believe in karma!

the thing is, it wasnt obstructing my rearview at all! i could see fine out of it! It was hanging off the mount and didnt touch the glass of the rearview at all! And I am not some strict stubborn christian...I just keep the rosary there to give me some faith once in awhile! I wouldnt whine about it if I didnt get 15 tickets! I got pulled over for not stopping completely at a stop sign and the officer decided to add 12 other offences that were all bs! I got one for illegal windshield(the windshield is OEM and i did nothing to it), tints(they are legal), and all this bogus stuff. The rearview thing is what bothered me the most!

If your rosary was over the face of the mirror or any part thereof, then in all 45 States, 4 Commonwealths and 1 Province that we collectively call The USA you are in violation of obstruction of your rear-view mirror.
PS. Police offices do not receive compensation, money or otherwise, for writing up violations.

To me the ticket for the obstructed rear view mirror war a legit ticket and as far as fighting it, well sometimes you can win and get the ticket thrown out since alot of times the cops don't show up for court and other times you end up just taking a day out of your life to go sit at the court house. I don't know why he gave you 15 tickets for the same thing though. That's what you should be looking at, not the obstruction ticket. Good Luck

13 tickets? For what and why so many. Usually your rearview mirror cannot be obstructed, however in some, or most states as long as you have side mirrors those are acceptable. Most trucks don't have a middle mirror, or do large lemo's!
I don't see why he cited you! You leaving something out?

If you really feel you have been wronged, then appear in court, plead not guilty and ask for a trial by jury. The city will not want to pay for all that so they will plea bargain with you to a lesser charge. if the plea bargain sounds good, take it and go see the judge and take the lesser charges.
By the way, catholics are not Christians. I use to be catholic and I renounced the religion and got saved and became a born again Bible believing Christian. This is not my personal opinion that I should keep to myself that I am telling you, but the truth I must tell you as a Christian.

well, did you have something hanging on your rearview mirror? if so, and the law says you cant have anything there, i believe you were not wronged in getting the ticket. just because you were polite does not change the fact you did something that you are not allowed to do.

Take it up with a lawyer and judge in court. In my personal opinion, u get pulled over its all a waste of time for YOU. Not for the cop doing his job. Keep in mind he gets paid for every ticket he writes, don't give him some dumb *** reason to keep writing. His religious beliefs may be different, most die hard christians get on my nerves. I'd probably would keep writing tickets for how many times you said jesus.

Yes, it is a good ticket to give actually. So many kids drive around ith big gaudy things over their mirrors and your mirror is not for display purposes but to see the car and whats going on behind you. He was making you an example. But it is a good ticket to give out, wether your religious or a teen doesnt matter, it doesnt make it right.

15 tickets???
Did you have 15 rear view mirrors - all obstructed?
OR what were the other 14 tickets for?
As a Christian you must believe that justice must be done and seen to be done. If you are lying Jesus will smite you...

If the cop gave you 15 tickets it's obvious that you did nothing wrong.

You may *call* yourself a Christian, but you certainly don't *act* like one. Try turning the other cheek.
You violated the law. The cop was doing his job. Stop whining.
