understand so little about other cultures and how other countries with their unique attributes come to be?

One country's democracy is another country's poison. Do not believe me? Look what the US did in Iraq.

I am not saying that dictatorship should return, what will happen to Iraq is ultimately the choice of Iraqis.

Nad, your answer is one of the best answers I have read.

I do not hate Israel or Jews. Its just that a majority of Muslims basically question the goals of Zionism. Question as to whether those goals are realistic. Sometimes, the means they use to get answers are violent, which is by no means productive.

I FIRMLY believe that there are extremists on both Israel and Palestinian territories.

If there was any real justice in this world, I think that Arabs and Jews can live peacefully together.

I agree with you, totally.

You are very obviously meeting americans who have never been anywhere, and evidently think they have some type of intellect that far exceeds that of reason. I've seen that. I've seen it in at least 35 countries.
So find new and more culturally-educated acquaintances. Your choice
I've also seen more Iraqis who have seen little and done less, but not because they didn't want to. Because they weren't "allowed" to.
I travel all around freely, confidently and happily, because I can. I married a Morroccan Israeli, but before I loved her, I have been with educated Japanese, Dutch, Swedish, Iranian, Australian, English....The list goes on. I used to date alot. Heh. So kill me.
I can be anything and anyone I wish to be because I have the freedom to do so.
America (British) Catholics wiped-out everyone they wanted to wipe-out, and I'm really sorry about that. I really and sincerely am, but most of us would have been much more compassionate toward the indigenous peoples, and would not have raped, pillaged, tortured and massacred them for our own gain.
Most americans feel the same way I do about the way christianity mangled anyone who didn't accept it. It sucks, and it's a drag.
I'm a Jew though. We know hatred, because we never felt love from anyone ever. We stole the Holy Land from the arabs, we eat the blood of christians in our oatmeal, and we worship golden bulls. We have all the money, and we rule Hollywood. You probably hate me a lot more now, right?
I expect it, but we all have the obligation to protect our families, our "religions" (if you're a nut) and our ways of life.
I did not create politics nor politicians, nor would I wish.
You did not create "Islamic" terrorists. You do not have the mental capacity to "think" in that manner, and neither do I.
The "groups, or factions, or cults" that control through their insane idologies and populous-given power, are who will and always have made asses of all of us. They will never stop this.
You can ***** about it until you die. I have alot! But I am not going to cause my family any more grief because I feel this way about that politician, or that dictator, or this maniac or that.
It is over! Whatever morals you have left after witnessing the horrors manufactured by the evil men/women of this world, hang tight.
You have a family to protect, and that is your job on this earth. Protect them as you deem correct. Teach them right from wrong from the bible of your heart. Do the best you can, and be aware of those who will come into your home and kill you and them. Shoot the intruder with a gun.
Respect and suspect. It is impossible to know whom to trust anymore, either personaly, politically, or historically.
Simplify, and begin to relax. I'm a Jew. Do you hate me for it? You're a Muslim. Should I hate you for it? Of course not.
Being a rational, and excellent human being has never needed any rules of "seperation" and I actually married an ARAB!
She's crazier than crap, but so am I, and we have a hell of a lot of fun with it, because we are able to recognize one another as just being "HUMAN BEINGS", and laughing at the insane idiots is a sort of interesting game with which we have a bit of fun. Can't change them, so laugh at them.
Okay?
The problems of this world have nothing to do with politics, religion, race or any other damned excuse.
The problems stem solely from majorities of people listening to, and believing people placed into positions of power, and hate makes wars, and wars make money, and money makes more power, and power gets a lot of people killed, and those who make it couldn't care less.
George Bush didn't make a war on Iraq. How foolish to give that guy that type of credit.
Seperate the people by making them hate, and every politician that ever lived knew money from it since the beginning of mankind.
Take care of you, and yours'. That is what you need to do. Relax, take vacations, travel, enjoy. You won't regret it. Give your family hugs. Smile. Do something positive.

Nad.

American Beauty - one of the best films ever to be released and, whilst the other two are perfectly good films, they'll never come close to Sam Mendes' masterpiece. BQ: It's very close, but I'd probably say it is better, yes - Edward Norton's performance is outstanding, and the film deals with some very controversial messages well. BBQ: American Beauty / Donnie Brasco / Black Swan (I know Black Swan is hated by some people, but I thought it was a great, but different, film that went places other films won't).

You've got to remember how BIG the USA is. It spans a continent. The American economy depends far less on foreign trade than the British economy, for example. What is more, America's separated by oceans from anything that can be a realistic threat to them. They think they are the good guys and everyone against them is evil.

Don't be surprised if I agree with you. I have mentioned several times to people that Islamic people do not believe in Democracy, they live by the cast system and enjoy it.
When the Russians were given Democracy, they didn't know how to deal with it, after some years down the road, a poll showed they wanted there bourgeois system of a dictatorship back. That's the way it is.

So, don't stereotype all Americans in this melting pot. Some just believe it's nice to speak your mind, go where you want, worship where you please, worship whom you please, marry whom you please, it goes on and on. We believe in that and I guess expect everyone, unknowingly and mistakenly, thought the same. We're learning.

Americans get confused because millions use American products/ideas across the Globe and so Americans imagine that in addittion to the designer sneakers and the electronic speakers and the Coca-Pepsi-Cola and reruns of Dynasty-Dallas-Buff the Vampire Slayer that the people of the World want an American style Government with two equally bland Blather Spillling Parties haggling over who gets to dip their hands in the taxpayers pockets.
There are Americans who attempt to understand other cultures but it gets hard trying to fathom our own complexities & incorrigibilities our ability to grasp 'exotic' cultures is a bit more of a stretch.

Peace.................

the fact is that US wants to control the politics, economics etc etc.. the reason of attacking Iraq wasn't WMD's at all, it was OIL. no labs for WMD's were found in Iraq, let alone WMD's.

and let us not forget that the only country to have used WMD is US, during the end of the 2nd world war.
