It wasn't the clothes - it was the BANGS!! Short bangs straight across my forehead like little appendages growing out of my forehead. And my mother wasn't too steady handed with the scissors so they were usually crooked.
However I have to confess that as a mother, I often put things on my son that will have him in therapy for eternity. For his pre K picture, I sent him to school in grey leather lederhosen. Yes, I really did. And I once bought him a French sailor suit complete with the hat with the pom pom on top -- you know the one like the Sta Puft Marshmallow Man wears?? Oh yes, and I once bought this very expensive handmade outfit for him at a craft show ... A little cowboy suit just like Howdy Doody. And I also bought him those little T strap buckle English shoes like Princess Diana put on her boys. Hadda have them.
So kwitcherbitchin about the capris ... My kid has had worse!!!!!!!!!!
Trust me, when he writes his book about me, I will make Mommy Dearest seem like Mother Theresa. I will burn in hell for dressing him that way, he tells me that all the time.

I was forced to wear a silver dress with a maroon ribbon around the waistline. I had to wear it twice. My mom's second wedding, and to the Nutcracker Ballet in Seattle with my dad and step-mom and rest of the family. It took them 3 to 3 1/2 hours to get me into that dress. I hated dresses growing up...I was a Tom Boy. Growing up, once I realized what I was wearing... you couldn't catch me in a dress. Jeans and t-shirts all the way!

a plaid, faded oversized shirt from the thrift shop that had blue, purple, and green sections on it...so like for a 6 inch square there would be a blue section, then another 6 inch square would be purple...etc. it was horrible, and it had a hood on it. I would wear a thick jacket over it and tuck the ends of it in my pants because i was embarrassed to be seen in it.

You did know, did you not, that Capri Pants is a feminine style of clothing? Are you sure they weren't just high-water pants? Perhaps your view was distorted by the other children's jests?

My dad made me wear girl's sandals instead of my regular shoes since he wanted to get out of the house quickly. I threw a fit about how the kids would tease me about it and said he would beat me if I didn't wear them. Needless to say during lunch every 6 year old guy made fun of me for that.
