He finally did the right thing. He wouldn't answer questions, lied to the feds , and the heat got to be too much. Bush continues to praise him because Bush has enough black marks on his record and in his staff, he is just trying not to get anymore.

Bush is one of those people who can't admit his close personal friend is a d*mned fool!! Loyalty is an admirable trait in dogs but if Bush was truly a servant of the People then Gonzales would never have even been nominated!! Gonzales resigned because he finally figured out that if everyone despises you and won't work with you then you might as well go home for some peace and quiet!

"Jeeper" pretty much says it all. Gonzales may not have been the best at fighting back the assaults on his character, but he is infinitely honest, a true intellectual, and was good at his job. What he should have done right at the beginning of the "controversy" over the firing of the US Attorneys was say, "US Attorneys work for the President and serve at his pleasure. He can fire any of them he wants to. That's the law. Period."

BUSH has confidence in Gonzales. The feeling, however, appears not to be mutual.

Gonzales got tired of the racist white democrat senators bashing him from the day he was nominated, untill yesterday.
You have to remember, since the democrats have never nominated a person of color, for any of the important cabinet post.
How dare the republicans make them look bad, by nominating several people of color to the most important cabinet post.
Just remember, the ex president of the NAACP actually said, it was ok for a white man to call a black man, an " uncle tom "
because the black man was running for the senate as a republican.
That happened in 2006 in the maryland senate race.

The controversy surrounding a number of issues became a political liability to a highly unpopular president. He had to leave.
