That's pretty ambitious.

Both these medical schools are excellent, and it will take a lot of hard work and high marks to get in. Both schools can give you the tools to grab a spot in a surgical residency, but singularly, you can't just become a plastic surgeon by going to UCLA or Keck School of Med (USC).

To go into plastic surgery, you have to complete medical school (which is after you complete a bachelors degree), then attain a residency in surgery (which can span 4 or 5 years). THEN you specialize your surgery with a few years of plastic surgery training. That's more than a decade of school AFTER college.

As for UCLA or USC, USC is expensive and UCLA is much cheaper if you are a California resident. I did three semesters (masters program) at Keck SOM (USC) and it cost $36k. The UC system is FAR cheaper, even for professional programs like medicine.

Of course, you have to earn a place. That means you need an undegraduate GPA of 3.7 and up and a MCAT score around 34 or 35. California medical schools are extremely competitive.

Still, if you make it to either school (and good luck in your pursuits), you will get a top-notch education, which means you likely will do well on the USMLE, which means you will probably qualify for a good residency. Cedars-Sinai has some residency programs, as does USC University Hospital, and Harbor-UCLA. Your best bet to have a shot at plastics training is in West LA (home to Cedars and UCLA) because of the sheer demand. West LA is where the money and celebs are.

UCLA's more challenging and prestigious. USC is much easier to get a good grade in. I'd go with UCLA.

interior the rustic, to alter right into a plastic physician, one could pass to college for style of 4 years and earn very excessive grades. One could take the MCAT and get a excessive score. One could get into clinical college, this is amazingly aggressive. Then one could comprehensive clinical college (4 years) and take and pass the USMLEs. in simple terms at this factor might one initiate practise to alter right into a plastic physician. you will possibly input a six 12 months paid residency. At some clinical colleges you will possibly initiate by making use of reading usual surgical procedure and later learn cosmetic surgical procedure in specific. At others, you will possibly input a six 12 months cosmetic surgical procedure residency remarkable after clinical college. UCLA and USC each and each settle for style of 3 or 4 cosmetic surgical procedure citizens each and each 12 months.
