I ride with a motorcycle jacket that's waterproof and it'll also breathe, same with the boots.
I might use leather trousers and if I only have some 20 miles to do when it starts raining then I'll keep on riding, but if it's heavy rain and I know I have a few miles left and the rain isn't going to stop then I'll stop and unpack the waterproof trousers, they are very thin and breathe.

Chopzite, a good cheap rainsuit for a bike can be bought at a golf club acc. sports store. A rainsuit is cheaper there than a MC store. Fullface helmets are also a good investment. . When ridin' in the rain it feels like little needles pricking you a any speed above 30 mph. The rain gear is light weight and can be stored easily in a saddle bag or bundled up and held on with a bungee cord to the front forks or rear sissy bar

Years ago, my answer would have been just like emucompboy's. The worst thing then was stoplights. When you put your feet down, all the warm water left would roll off leaving everything down there chilled until the water built up and got warm again.
Now, I carry a rainsuit in the saddlebag. Actually, just the pants, now, as the new jacket is waterproof. If I'm expecting rain, and have decided not to wear a helmet, I still bring it.
When it rains, wear a hat.

i highly recommend a 2 piece rainsuit called frog toggs. they'd run u about 70 bucks (about 40 bucks cheaper than harley's suit), extremely lightweight, is breatheable....air flows thru, but rain cant get in. i have this: http://www.cpostores.com/froggtoggs/browse.cfm/4,453.htm
i can tell u from actual road useage, this suit will keep u bone dry even if u wind up riding thru rain so hard, the cagers switch to their high speed wipers. if i know i'm heading to where it might rain, i'll make sure the face sheild on my helmet is clean and good to go. it'll protect ur face very well, and dont forget the gloves and boots. rain feels like flying needles at interstate speeds.

I wouldn't ride in the rain; Scootie stays in the shed on wet days. My policy is - Two wheels when good weather forecast, four wheels when possibility of rain. Slippery roads, poor visibility and cold wet clothes aren't for me.

All good advice above. For me riding in the rain is just part of the experience. Enjoy it. The more you get "caught" the more you will get used to it. Some of my most memorable trip moment have been those in the rain. Good stories to tell.

Yep. That isn't the worst of it, either. I got gloves after the first time riding in the rain. That really stings. You can wear a rain suit.

it's for sure a pi** off when that occurs. just be as prepared as u can for when the rain comes. at minimum, u should at least have an emergency rain coat on your bike at all times. and if u don't, trust me, u will after it happens to ya once. it only takes a couple of rain falls for u to realize it's imperative to have one on u.

I get all wet. Not only that, the cold water sluices off the gas tank and onto my groin. Gotta love it. Yamaha Virago 700.
