If you can't figure out what I mean by this, don't post. It should be obvious to those who get it.

Child-like or Child-ish

A good example is the beginning of Shabaraks post.

That is to say Shabaraks view is a good example of a child-like view.

little thought involved. believers usually begin with a poor view and some never develop this, atheists rejected this childish view from the start. being able to reject the childish thing is easier, they may see no need to make/ refine theists arguments for them. Also religious may believe that they believe; so further thought outside what they're told may be "frowned upon" as blasphemous or unbelieving.

Tim,
A few people, irrespective of their beliefs in God, might have a childish view but that doesn't quite imply, that it is common knowledge and an answer for it be sought on Y!A.
There might be a few stupids who might have a childish view not only of what God is, but several other issues as well, but it would be utter foolishness that intellectuals like you spend their precious time, pondering over why a fool thinks the way he does.

Perhaps because any view of a god or the supernatural, is childish? We can learn much from myths and fairy tales, and to suspend disbelief is entertaining and can exercise the mind - but to cling to illusions is delusion. Maturity carries the child within, for joy, and can be child-like in curiosity, fresh observation, and eagerness. But it puts aside childish things including comfort blankets. It recognizes its ignorance whilst trying always to learn more no matter how discomforting. It has faith in itself, taking personal responsibility with the courage to deal with the consequences. It's rare, with or without degrees or pompous hats. Insight comes from looking at the world without assumptions. Much of education merely instills them.

God loves the little children. Wanna know why?

Cos the children are not so vain and conceited that they would believe in their own minds so much for the answers to all of life's pertinent questions.

If you are satisfied with logic, then just go away and be.

Hi. This is one mystery of God that nobody can give a very good, unoffending answer.

All i know is that, God wants us to not to fight with each other, and to oblige, I just mind my own business so that I will not have any trouble with anyone even to God. As long that these people are not physically hurting me or my family - I could care less of what they do to their life.

Leave the atheists out of this one. As an atheist I can say I don't have any view of any god; since they don't exist.

Maybe they just prefer to keep their belief system- "Simple". -Without alot of books, or theories, or complicated religious mumbo-jumbo to express that which God IS. Maybe you're mistaking Child-LIKE for Child-ISH... :)

probably because God is infinite and man is finite. so what does man do to cope with this? put God in a tiny little box and stamp their childish definition on it.

Maybe because so many Bible stories sound like children's stories. Like Noah's Ark, for example.
