If you don't mind paying I would get Kaspersky Anti-Virus and Internet protectiong suite. For spyware I run a combo of the free versions of Spybot and Ad-aware. My computer has been running good for over a year now. Don't get Norton or McCafrey....tried using both of those and my computer ran really slow and often got infected...

If it's antispyware, I'd go for either Webroot Spysweeper or Lavasoft Ad-Aware. They're the best.

If it's antivirus you're looking for, I recommend Kaspersky Anti-virus.

most virus are spread through IE. IE is not a safe browser.

you should use a more secure browser to protect your PC from virus. i recommand you to use firefox with Google toolbar.

firefox can block any any popup and disable any virus and adware, spyware on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE browser.

as you know, most of virus spread throught internet and webpage.

besides, firefox is much smaller than IE, so it run faster than IE. download firefox for free, Just have a try:

So discreet, you even don't realize it's working for you safety !
Great ! Enjoy it !

If you ready pay for it, I would recommend Trend Micro PC Scan for Antivirus as well as Antispyware. But You can download and install trial version to check how it works.

If you want a free software,
Sorry, you can download trial version of any Antivirus/Antispyware software. (Recommendation: Trend Micro, Avast, AVG)

I would say spysweeper and pccillin, pccillin has less background processes than the others so it wont slow your comp as much.
