Independence Day...by far. Here are some contrasts...
1. Independence Day appeals to your "What If" side, while Pearl Harbor took an actual side, and put a Hollywood spin on it.
2. Independence Day didn't have Ben Affleck in it. Pearl Harbor....did.
3. Today's generation walked out of Independence Day upbeat, in a "kick ***" sorta way. They walked out of Pearl Harbor feeling downbeat, and still sorta ignorant to the actual events that took place in Hawaii.

Independence Day. Loved it!

Sorry, but I thought that Pearl Harbour was one of the worst movies I have ever seen.

if you are more into sci-fi movies then independence day is the movie for you but if you like movies that has a historical bearing and is more realistic then pearl harbor is the movie for you.

they are both award winning films however independence day is about alien invasion while pearl harbor is a dramatic re-imagining of the attack in pearl harbor. so. it would really depend on a person's personal preference.

INDEPENDENCE DAY! - less corny dialogues, excellent pacing, heart pounding action, rousing score, quotable lines, shocking sequences (Whitehouse exploding, invasion aftermath etc.). A truly guilty pleasure.

PEARL HARBOUR - loud, cliched, poor chemistry among the leads, unnecessary long and drawn and terrible pacing.
