ultraviolence in some sports , and Xbox games? Are you numb. Do you care about your own life and death less since there's so much blatant disregard concerning the value of life, and teaching values of harmony and peace, which had it's short noble attempt in the sixties, until disco and the ME generation took over later? Is the idea that life is fragile and should be protected and values that include decency and tolerance completely uninteresting to today's youth?

You sound like my parents. I value my life though, and my fiance and I are planning to have a large family. That war postponed our wedding twice, but he's almost home. Pray for me or alternatively wish on stars for me.

well i grew up a little, maybe it's not the times have changed but it's our journey. People of all sorts have always been here. There are certainly more laws today, less pillaging and so on. I look to plato and rome, the renaisance, king louis, I don't really think much has changed. The aristocracy is the only stories we hear all that much about and whatever nonsense they go through has little to do with you. I get up, get paid, be a good man or not. Some guy 1,000 miles away trying to get me for a tith can say most anything he wants and kiss my ### cause i'm a tiny pea in a sea of commoners.
edit: tith is maybe spelled tithe, like taxes but to the church in the old days. It means 1/10 of your salary a tenth. And thank you.

It's funny, back in the "olden" days life was pretty cheap, you could get strung up for stealing anything worth more than a few pennies. Not to mention get burned alive if you were a heretic (i.e., rational human). So much has changed and some things never change. The ME generation is nothing new, and that blip on the radar screen known as the love generation also had its problems. Life goes on, life is still cheap, unless it's your own. Hang on to your own, my friend. That's an easy thing to say but if we all get blown away, then simply pretend, that you'll be reborn again. Yoink.

I'd say quite on the contrary, my values on "life and death" have probably intensified due to the prevalence of so many people that don't value life, theirs or the life of someone else. You tend to protect what you hold dear and I've taught my three boys the same basic principles that I learned as a child (they are all avid gamers BTW, but not so much with the violent games). Great question!

My personal values haven't changed. Life is what you make of it regardless of societal influences. Death is not the end. The bodily remains are only a vehicle for the soul, which is eternal.
If I sound ultra philosophical, it's because I lost a beloved member of my family yesterday. My brother died Aug. 27, 2007 at 4:00 a.m., after a courageous, six-month battle with the severest complications of diabetes.

Certainly NOT in my neck of the woods. That's pobly cause I'm a country girl with down home values like being a real honest to God Mama and lover without getting too bitchy about it. It's easier since I quit raggin. Can I get an Amen, brother?

I think speaking of life or death issues the war of people in Iraq is one good one so many of them as died and perished cause of death religion and belief the sectarian war mixed faiths
has eroded and made the media aware of how many in the markets places has died in mass explosions of ppl laying there dead with blood stains on the side walk or the one that has the money to make war on other people to keep U.S. and british troops there to keep fighting there causes death 2them on civilians are nothing
if your the enemy or think ur the enemy your dead ur a moving target and life to them don't mean nothing to them but being dead.
on war games that companies bring out I feel it is
making producing violets like those who make wrestling
games like Steve Os ten stone cold not so much for movies it is other things

Some enjoy life,
others look forward to death.
Why despair over either?
just avoid some drivers.

My personal values have, in fact, strengthened. I think, however, that the national values have eroded.
