Star Wars: Return of The Jedi. Hands down.
Vader redeems himself, Leia and Han are together, Luke saves his father and helps to destroy the Emperor, and R2D2 and C3PO are still the ambiguously gay duo!
Seriously, a great way to end the series.

The best 2nd sequel (or 3rd in a series) has to be Return of the King!! All 3 films were flat-out excellent, though...
2nd place: Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
Return of the Jedi was a great ending, but come on now... Ewoks??
For most other franchise movies, by #3 things were going downhill: Spider-Man , X-Men, Terminator, Bourne, Rocky, Alien, The Matrix, Die Hard, Lethal Weapon, Pirates of the Caribean, Rush Hour, Shrek.
For all of those, either the original or sequel was better than the 2nd sequel.

I've been sitting here for like 5 minutes, and I honestly can't think of a really great one. Honestly, many times it's a big letdown. If I think of something, I'll edit this, but don't hold your breath.
