Since your so true email about MARS BEING THE SIZE OF THE MOON ONE NIGHT ONLY FOREVER, said that it was going to happen at 1230 am on August the 27. First off that would have been last night not tonight. 2nd its past 1230 PST and MST and about their on CST, so who feels stupid now? Anybody?

Sorry I meant 1230 EST so its already past for the rest of us.
So your saying that Mars is still coming? But it got delayed? That sounds even more moronic than everything else Ive heard on here tonight.

I actually had a girl earlier say she didn't believe that it was a hoax and that God would make Mars be there to prove it to us Pompous naysayers. Now that was funny.

I never believed that 2 "moon", Mars up close silliness in the first place. I already knew what Mars would look like at close opposition. And yet, I feel stupid sometimes. Does that qualify?

Let me introduce you to the "urban legends" web site under the name of snopes.com. Many E-mails having interesting or unusual topics may be only frauds and can be checked out here. There are a lot of these bogus stories going around and they often are recycled after a year or two. That "snopes" web site has an archive of them beside the listing of the most recent ones.
The one about the "two moons" is actually a year or so old. It first came out when Mars was indeed about to make its closest approach. However, that closeness was not really enough to be perceptible to people without specialized equipment. It was a huge misrepresentation then and it has just been sent around again without a date of the year on it.
The issue of the time of day or night is not really important because the whole report is false.

Are they the most efficiant or fastest way? Definetly not, that is not their intent. Most kata's from traditonal styles were designed to take time to learn, because most oriental people do not have the American attitude of "I want it all now", especially the new generation of Americans. Are they every bit as effective as other methods in the long run? Definetly yes, as long as they are trained correctly, and include actually applying and learning the moves with a resisting opponent. I do not think you will find anyone who beleives that kata can teach you self defense would tell you different. Unfortunatly, in the rush to make money, many people have opened schools, or even created their own styles, without actually knowing what they are doing. Another by product of the AMerican mentality, this to make lot's of money, even if they are not qualified. I know you do not believe in kata, and if that works for you it is fine, however kata under a good instructor, trained correctly, works well for many of us. The kata and teh self defense within eventually becomes a part of you, it just takes time. I do know that when I am 50-60 and can no longer spar as long or as hard, or keep up with younger people, I will still have my kata to work on, and learn from, and every time I practice one I will be working self defense. ........Can you say the same?

I got that e-mail too!
But I think because some people can be stupid, you can see it somewhere at 12:30 am and it is August 27 because some people can't figure out that 12 AM means it's the next day. So it made it easy for them. But it got pushed back a few hours. So who is stupid now? haha

You tell 'em, jtmonkey. Make sure you stay up to see it. And invite a few friends. It will look better if you all go out and buy 3-D glasses and lie flat on the ground to look at it.

I don't feel stupid, but I would if I wasted any real time looking for that crappy red planet. I see it every night anyway. It's low on the horizon if you're looking west from Nevada.
