divide 98 by perfect squares
2 squared is 4, 98divided by 4 is not a whole number
3 squared is 9, 98 divided by 9 is not a whole number
4 squared is 16, 98 divided by 16 is not a whole number
5 squared is 25, 98 divided by 25 is not a whole number
6 squared is 36, 98 divided by 36 is not a whole number
7 squared is 49, 98 divided by 49 is 2
therefore the square root of 98 is the square root of (49x2) and the square root of 49 is 7 and your answer is 7square root 2 and the 2 stays in because it is not nor will it be a perfect square.

I assume you mean simplifying the root?
In that case you just need to find the largest square factor of 98.
That would be 49 because it's a square number (7*7) and 49 *2 = 98 (can't get a bigger square factor)
Now we rewrite the root as the product of two others:
sqrt(98) = sqrt(49) * sqrt(2)
And we simplify:
sqrt(49) * sqrt(2) = (7) * sqrt(2) = 7sqrt2

first you have to find the lcd of 98 which is 2*49 so you have the square root of 2 and the square root of 49..well the square root of 49 is 7 which leaves you with 7 root 2

Sqrt (98)
=sqrt (49*2)
=sqrt (49)*sqrt (2)
=7*sqrt (2)
Or if you didn't want it simplified, just use a calculator.
