My school can be not so nice. It's a small, private school with less than 20 kids per grade. Next year is the starting day, and my bff and I were wondering how to get along with the kids there. A lot of them gossip all the time, constantly put down people down and are just plain rude. What should we do?

You sound like a really sweet girl...I've got a great idea for you!
There will be at least one new kid who just moved to your school. Grab your BFF and both of you go up to that kid at lunch and offer to sit with him/her. It will be something that kid will appreciate and remember forever. And the feeling you'll get from going out of your way to be nice to someone who's probably feeling really lonely will be something you'll be proud of for the rest of your life. The catty girls haven't realized that being known as the nicest girls in class is a powerful position to have! The fact that you now know that and they don't is also the reason you'll make twice as much money as them when you graduate college.

Have a great first day and enjoy being the nice girls!

Just be yourself, smile and be friendly. My daughter went through this because I am military and we've moved a lot. She had to attend a new school in her senior year. She tried to fit in by hanging with the wrong type of folks. She's now expecting her first kid. Talk to someone you trust if you start getting depressed.

Always be yourself. If the talk turns nasty, turn around & walk away.If they don't like it & start to talk about you(which they probably will,I'm afraid)be strong, know that you did the right thing & let them talk, their little lives must be so sad.But don't stoop to their level...One way of looking at it is,who ever we are in life & what ever we do there will always be some sad person willing to put you down. It's sad fact of life, but one we all have to live with.So it's good practise for you in not letting it get you down.Goodluck...

It never hurts to smile, just have a nice smile on your face, it conveys confidence and friendliness. If people are mean just ignore it. A gentle answer turneth away wrath, thus sayeth the Bible. I think its in the Bible anyway. But its true, you don't have to react to anything, just blow it off, you don't need to feel hurt by anything. anyway I hope things go well for you. Good luck.

Ignore the drama. It's definately not worth your time or patience. Focus on your school work. Don't let people get to you, it's really not worth it.

Just don't start stuff with them, and ignore the people that try to start stuff with you!
