No. Do you need special eye protection to look at the moon? The same applies for a lunar eclipse.

The moon is eclipsed because the earth is directly in between the sun and the moon, so the earth blocks the light that is usually reflected off the moon.

For a SOLAR eclipse, on the other hand, you do need special eye protection. A solar eclipse occurs when the moon goes in front of the sun.

No, there is no need for any special eye equipment to look at a lunar eclipse. There is no direct light from the sun, so you're retinas won't get burned out. Be careful with solar eclipses though.

Have fun stargazing.

No. It is perfectly safe the watch a lunar eclipse with the naked eye. Only when looking at a SOLAR eclipse is it important to use eye protection. However, you may want to look at the lunar eclipse with binoculars or a telescope for a more dramatic view.

You don't need any type of eye protection as the light from a Lunar eclipse is the Earth blocking the reflected light from the moon. The light will actually be less bright than viewing a normal full moon.

No, you do not. The light that you do see is that which is being reflected from the earth since the earth is between the moon and the sun. Only a solar eclipse, where the moon moves between the earth and the sun, do you need special protection.

So many people asking that question. Lunar's won't hurt your eyes...it's dark. Solar will. Didn't your momma ever tell you not to look directly into the sun?

NO! Absolutely not! Enjoy! It is only the SOLAR (SUN) ECLIPSE that you need special filters for viewing. Enjoy!

Lawn chair, No-Doz (its at like 5am here), a blanket...

I'd recommend a group of friends and a six pack of beer, but that might be contributing to the delinquincy of a minor for all I know.

Go watch it. I have it on good authority that there are 'beautiful things if we just open the door'.

Just your eyeballs : ) Don't worry about eye damage; that's only with solar eclipses.
