It could be simple ignorance on both parts. Most everyone here is in the States and therefore used to American spelling so you could adjust accordingly. And we could be more tolerant of Brit's ways of doing things. Truthfully, all I had ever seen as different in spelling were the words: theatre and colour. I never knew there was a difference in retarded and retarted until tonight.

This YA happens to be for the United States of America and while we are very diverse in culture, our native tongue is American English. If people choose not to spell that way they have 25 other places to go where their spelling would be correct.

And Canadians, too. Apparantly I'm always spelling colour wrong because I put a "u" in it. People need to learn where other people come from that they spell differently. Although I'm pretty sure British spelling is the same as Canadian spelling. It's you Yanks who are screwing everyone up xD (Lol I kid)

I think it's simple ignorance, many people don't know (or try to) anything except what they were brought up with, and if a different culture or slightly different language wasn't included in the package...

I love looking at the spelling and wording and trying to guess which country the person is from. Or even, which state in the US for that matter.
But honestly, some of the kids do need spelling lessons. Some of what I see is not acceptable---even for MySpace.

Yes I've noticed that. Some people are just ignorant to other people's ways of doing things.

I think it's hilarious. One girl even answered a question with something like, "Oh, and it's It's xxxx, not yyyy."
When the Brit called her out on it, and pointed out that it was spelled correctly, she said that she hadn't specifically said the word was spelled incorrectly.....sure, sure...lol What a loser!

hm-mm.....I never really thought of it until now. Keep in mind how people think. All of us were raised differently. Some people are fully aware, while others are completely obtuse. It is a matter of improving upon oneself. Some people do; some do not.
